Archana Gopal is a Master of Health Science student in Clinical Engineering at the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto. She received her Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Archana is currently completing her Master's thesis under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Cafazzo. Her thesis, entitled "Reducing 'Failure-to-Rescue' Events through Enhanced Critical Care Response Teams", aims to design, develop, and evaluate a point-of-care technology that can be used to electronically capture vital signs, and automatically alert the CCRT of deterioraing patients. It is hoped that using such technology will assist with the early detection of deteriorating patients, and enhance the communication, responsiveness, and effectiveness of CCRT programs, which will lead to improved patient safety.
