Tara McCurdie is a Human Factors Analyst with the Healthcare Human Factors Group at the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation. Before joining the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation, Tara gained valuable human factors experience in the areas of automotive and military human factors applied research. She was involved in conducting usability studies addressing the safety of multifunctional in-vehicle technologies and played an integral role in the requirements analysis and field trial evaluation of various soldier support systems.
Tara studied at the University of Waterloo and holds a BASc in Systems Design Engineering. Her fourth-year project involved the design and construction of a thermoelectric hot/cold muscle therapy device specifically intended to aid in the rehabilitation of stroke-related paralysis. To compliment her studies at Waterloo, Tara also spent a semester abroad at the University of Queensland in Australia with a focus in her studies on user-centered design.
Tara is registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and is also a member of the Association of Canadian Ergonomists (ACE).
