Technology Assessments

The Healthcare Human Factors Group performs assessments of new and emerging medical technologies in Ontario with the goal of providing guidance to institutions, individual clinicians and vendors on issues that impact safety and effectiveness. Typically, these assessments involve the following:
A market scan to understand the breadth and penetration of products approved for sale in Canada

Broad surveys to gain an understanding of the current practices surrounding their use

Site visits to further appreciate issues related to the implementation and use of the technology

Expert panels and focus groups to delve deeper into uncovered issues.

Upon completion, reports summarizing findings and learnings in the form of generalized recommendations are developed.
